Spare Parts

The only thing harder to find than spare parts for our M-60s were round-eyed women. We would beg, borrow, and steal anything. The hardest thing was the bolt receiver rod. It connected the bolt to the gas cylinder plug below the barrel. The way it was milled it always would get a bur on it. Then you would have to file it down. After filing it so many times it wouldn't fit right and the gun wouldn't fire. I would shoot gallons of LSA into the receive to make the damn thing work. The ARVIN's would trade for C-Rations. Hell they never fired their weapons anyway. Remember the saying,"Want to buy some ARVIN weapons? Brand new. Never fired. Only dropped once." Being at the end of the supply line ment being very creative in order to obtain the little things in life. S/P packs and the sidewalk markets in Qhon-Nam was the best place. The black market was helpful at times. Could have got a jeep or tank if you wanted.
