I just found out my #1 (and only) son, Matt, has received his papers to head to Korea in December. He's 82nd Airborne front line support battalion currently stationed at Fort Bragg.

I'm not happy, of course, about him heading in that direction but am not surprised. He's been in the Army for 6 years and has never been deployed anywhere. We knew this was coming. He will be gone for a year and leaves behind his wife, three step-children and his daughter, Amber, who is two years old and has been in remission from cancer since last October. Being gone for a year will be very difficult for him.

I ask that you all keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers while he is in Korea - that nothing escalates while he's there and that he and all the other troops return safely to their families.
