On 2 March 1969 myself and Jeff Dana crewed Gator 108 on a resupply mission for a company of grunts pinned down in the valley. We hovered over the tree tops trying to locate the unit. After several passes we located the unit. We dropped our load and as we were leaving between us we got credit for five snipers killed. We took quite a few rounds in the ship.
The following we found ourselves crewing Gator 376. That day was spent on resupply and pulling out wounded. The last run that day was to take hot chow into LZ Swinger. As we left the pad we banked left and came under heavy fire. We maade it back to Polei Kleng. Lt. Burke did a great job of doing a semi-controled crash at the end of the runway. We didn't quite clear the barbed wire at the end. That's how the vertical fin got tore off. Jack Cloud sent in a picture of it under the title "Who's Slick".
4 March 1969 I found myself crewing Gator 834. Doc had guard duty the night before so I got his ship. Bon-Bon was the A/C and Eggy was the gunner. Bob knows what happened that day when we made a CA along the ridge line by the river.

Every day of March thur April of 1969 was like that in the Valley. Everybody crewed each others ship. I even ended up flying with the second platoon a couple of times.
