During 1967 (not sure which month) I watched part of a fire fight between the 604th and some folks from the 170th parking area along the western perimeter. In those days the Perimeter was L shaped with an open area where where the christmal tree was eventually built. We had a security patrol in the open area and someone on one side or the other of them fired. Next thing several bunkers were shooting at each other across the gunts convinced they were under attack. The security grunts hunkered down 'till it was over. Not sure if any were wounded, but it was an eye opener.
