We got a late start out of Dak To because of a hydraulic leak which I fixed using an open end wrench with a screwdriver wedged in between the nut and bolt so I could get tight enuogh to stop the leak! We were empty and was catching up to the flight when we heard all the stuff going on. Who the hell put us in the middle of the NVA Base Camp? All I know is, we were coming up on all the smoke and heard a May Day twice. My A/C called him and told him we were coming up on his tail. They went down in about 10 ft. elephant grass. We tried to land, but the grass was holding us up. I left the helicopter and began falling and the next thing I knew I was looking up. I was trying to help them get their stuff and radio gear. We had a problem! The heicopter was too high up to reach. Anyway, Who was all the people that climbed up my ass to get onboard and who grabed my arm to pull me up. I owe the one!!!
