Duke -

Most of the time when I took off I was facing east. It took longer to get to the 4th Div base camp that way. (grin)

I inherited Don Scalf's ship when he left (Gator 376). I am very embarrassed to admit I don't even remember the name of my crew chief and gunner. Two great guys! We did have one fun run down the river shooting the guns after we were ordered not to do that anymore. Testing the guns down the river was off limits. There was an accident (more on that later), but Major Campbell stood up for me and made it all disappear. I thought I was cooked!

One crew chief I remember is Kiefer. Anybody heard from him? I think he was from California. He was my crew chief the first day I made AC and we had an insertion (and extraction - same day) for the boys at FOB 2. Some Captain from the 57th was flying with me to get oriented to the country. Talk about "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" well, that was a good one.

Enough for now.... if you know me you know I can be wordy. (grin) You don't want to talk to me on the phone.

Chief, what happened to my can of ham and lima beans????? (Yes, I LIKED them)

:)
