This is NO SHIT!

I figured that would get your attention. (ha, ha, ha)

But, thruthfully, here is an embarrassing moment for me which gave quite a few of the guys a big laugh. NO SHIT!

You guys remember how the mud would crack up at Dak To as the ground dried out? I was up in Dak To, must have been some time around the end of October. I ws flying with John Kinzel (AC) and the rest of the crew in Gator 519. They allowed me aboard.

We had some kind of meeting over at the northern part of the grassy area north of the runway. Kinzel and I and some other pilots all walked over to this meeting spot.

We walked way to the west to avoid walking through the mud. I wasn't there for the rainy season so I had no idea how the area got so muddy.

After the meeting, I decided I was going to take a "short cut" and walk over some of the cracked mud. It looked hard enough to hold me and I didn't mind getting a *little* mud on my boots.

Well, I get about half way across my "short cut" when poof! I was up to my ass in mud. When I mean up to my ass, I mean up to my ass.

So, I look back at Kinzel all red faced wanting some help. Well, there is Kinzel laughing his ass off. He almost pissed his pants he was laughing so much. The other pilots thought it was a real treat, too. They almost bust their sides they were laughing so much.

Finally, Kinzel makes his way over, slowly I might add, and grabs on to my M-16 to help pull me out. I was up to my waist about this time and Kinzel had to pull pretty hard.

Kinzel finally gets me out and I am all covered in mud up to my waist. There is a little on my fatigue shirt where I tried to get out. I look like a dirt ball. And, everyone is laughing. As a footnote, I didn't hear the end of that for a while.

So, after I get out, I decide to follow the knowledgeale crew and take the long way back to the ship. It is hot and dry now, and I am starting to dry off. It didn't take too long for the mud to dry out completely and then I just brushed it off almost as if nothing had ever happened.

Another one of my FNG embarrassing moments. I got heckled about it a bit, and all the noise finally died down after about a month. I never walked over the cracked mud again. (grin)

Any other muddy stories out there?

Later.....
