<< the Aircraft commander sat left seat >>
You are absolutely right, and believe me, for some reason it was a much more comfortable place form which to fly. I remember taking off from someplace once, when I was still in the right seat, and was fighting a crosswind and bouncing all over the place. The A/C reached over and touched the top of the cyclic with his left index finger and the dang ship suddenly settled down rock solid. Some months later, when I was in the left seat, I was flying with some new guy, and we were departing the Golf Course and he was fighting a crosswind and just bouncing all over the place. I reached over and touched the top of the cyclic with my left index finger, and the ship suddenly settled down rock solid smooth.
Remarkable seat, actually. I really enjoyed flying from there!
