** This was just to show you guys that not all Cobras flew at 10,000 feet. **

George, Cobras were great.

68-69, we hated the damned things. With good reason; our lives were on the line. Same reason other guys loved them.

They were still learning how to use them properly when we had to deal with them. They made mistakes, higher-higher did.

First they tried to use them like Charlie-models. Didn't work. Not enough eyes and no side or rear protection to be that low and slow. Cobra crews died.

The answer? High. REAL high. So high that RMB became a problem, big problem. Rocket Motor Burnout. Translation: no slick cover. We wuz on our own. Slick crews died.

At one point we were more inclined to shoot a Cobra than the next dink to pop up. We were really pissed, at the Cobras and at higher-higher. With good cause. We were Patriots wit' a CAPITOL PEE, but we weren't DUMB; we knew they were screwing with our lives... and we didn't like it much.

Anyway, they eventually sorta figgered it out and used the Cobras pretty well, because they really could carry and deal some heavy hurt. But for a CA...? I'll take a couple pairs of Charlie-Model guns; passing UNDER ME on short final, with my pals hanging out with M-60s, looking out more for me than for they own ugly asses...

Like I gotta tell youse turkeys any of this...
