Dave'

Off the subject, down the list you said you extended and were in the MP's. It sounded like you were away from the Pleiku area. Where did you end up and what was it like. I spent my entire time chasing the central highlands. I did get two TDY trips along the coast. One was a three day just north of Nha Drang. A place called Tuy Hoa. Base was right on the coast. We did assault with the ARVINs in landing zones that would fit eight ships. Tall elephant green and no bad guys. It was July of 68 and the rainy season was in the highlands but the dry season along the coast. We got one afternoon off to go to the beach. I was so sun burnt I could hardly move. The other was in Dec. 68 we were at Lane Army Airfield near Qui Nhon. They sent us there to work with the Koreans. I think we got the assignment because we had a big turn around in crews and and it gave the newer people a place to work and get familar with flying. I was there a month and then I went on leave for I extended. That was nice. Great clubs and pizza parlors. I lost my survial knife in Nov when we lost Gator 371 and of course I couldn't get it replaced through supply. I got a brand new one at the market place there for five bucks. Thank God for the Black Market. That's how we got half the stuff we needed.
