Gail, you do not need to take a pole; when I was growing up in that country, we just cut a bamboo cane whenever we wanted to go fish. There are not many places where it still grows wild, but there is some near my Mom and Dad's place. Just say the word, and we'll get a line, some crawdads, and some red wrigglers, or chicken livers, and we're in bidness; as they still say!
