Recently I posted a message regarding "A-Teams" and knowing full well that many of us had experienced working with them, as well as Rangers and LRPS I thought it might be interesting to get responces to the Subject "Landing Zones". We have a lot of stories (History) that has not been shared. I for one enjoyed comparing the simillarities and differences between 66-67 A-Team work and the later years.

Landing Zones were a fact of our lives we all needed them, some friendly some not, some planned some not. I am sure Pilots have a different take than us Guys In Back.

For me as a CE the most memorable was a Hover Hole on the side of a mountain during the Monsoon Season. Did I mention that It was about 2 am and the visibality was less than dark (0). My pilot was flying from instructions given by myself and my gunner during our attempt to decend 100 ft. The mission was to extract three WIAs that would not make it until morning. The attempt was not successful and the WIAs did not make it we however made it back to Pleiku. To this day I wish we would have made one more attempt. I know we would have had several blade strikes just not sure how severe.
