I went to Huey school at Eustis with a good guy from California, Gil Carrillo. He got orders for Vietnam ahead of me, ended up crewing in the 189th, so we'd see each other around Holloway. Good guy.

Three years ago, 30 years later, I'm sitting in a chair at home one Saturday, reading some book, television going in the background. Catch a voice on the tv, think to myself, "Hmm. Sounds like that ol' boy Carrillo."

I look up, and there on the tv is Detective Gilbert Carrillo, LA County Sheriff's Dept, talking about how he and his partner caught the Nightstalker killer, Richard Ramirez.

30 years later, not even paying attention, and I recognized his voice on television.
