During my tour (68/69) we operated from Plei Me/Duc Co area to Ben Het/Dak To area. My letters home I would write that I didn't know where we were, in the mountains I would mention that we could see some lights in the distance and that would be the best reference I had to where we were. We were so isolated most of the time. It is only 30 plus years after Vietnam that I am learning the history. I was too young and naive when I served to understand what I was involved in.

I put Vietnam behind me when I got home, never talked about it for 30 plus years. Only after the 35th Infantry set up their Website did I begin to have an interest in learning what happened prior to my tour and after I left. Trying to remember all the LZ's and names of the guys I served with has been tough. Remembering has been tough for all of us.
