They sure did, Tom. And a lot of their bigtime action was around your time, much of it out of Dak To. SF guy named John Plaster has written a couple of GREAT books about SOG or CCC, what we called FOB-2. He is legit SOG, and talks about a lot of the "see-krit" stuff we did on FOB2. His latest one mentions us, the 119th, in addition to the KingBees, as one of "CCCs" (FOB, I thought) helicopter outfits. And there's a couple of pictures of the FOB2 ramp plus a lot of other great stuff that tells what they (and we) were doing.

In addition to all the rest that the SOG guys absolutely loved, there were two legendary King Bee pilots, named "Cowboy" and "Mustachio." Cowboy flew into the bullets one of WAY too many times, the last one certain death trying to extract a SOG team. I may be wrong, but I think Mustachio may have miraculously survived the war. Gotta check the book.

Anyway, the KingBees would come into Dak To looking like a cattle drive of H-34s, no clearances, helicopters going every which way, it was a hoot to watch. Certain death if you were in the way.

I heard they got their kicks flying down Hwy 14 (19?) full tilt boogie, put the H-34's wheels on the road at a hunnert knots or so, then pull pitch when a lambretta or a truck came along the other way.

I'm trying to make this stuff up, but I can't.
