Picture yourself at the center of the face of a clock... your three o'clock is to your direct right side, your nine is to your direct left, etcetera.

It's a "military" way of relating to someone where something is relative to his or her position..

My "six" is directly behind me, funny as that may sound...

"I've got your six" means "I have your backside covered" or "don't worry about what's behind you - if it means you harm, I'll neutralize it"..

The old expression "twelve-o'clock high" refers to an enemy (aircraft) in the front, and higher that just straight ahead.

Boyoboy, do I sound like a know-it-all, or what?
