Re: Worcester Dedication
In Response To: Worcester Dedication ()

They did a fantastic job with the Memorial! The park is beautiful and I can't wait to go back when there isn't anyone there!

The ceremony was nice (once you got past the huge crowd, the politicians and the totally OBNOXIOUS photographers - news media, etc.). I guess the older I get, I have a much better appreciation and understanding of people's private space which the photographers I saw obviously DID NOT. I was so close to decking a few but decided I better not.

Aside from that, I had a great visit with Dave Fogg (once again - he's such a nice guy!!!!) who took a few pictures (some of which I sent along to Mark). It was very comforting to share the afternoon with him and to be a part of what was going on. I did not hook up with Pal Flagg (he ended up not making it to the ceremony at all) and Dave Pearsall was there but he couldn't find me (strange as THAT sounds!). Come to find out, he was sitting in the bleacher section right behind where Dave & I were sitting!!!! I told him I was going to be wearing my infamous Gator t-shirt but I guess it just wasn't enough!

The t-shirt did, however, spark a lot of interest from many other people who asked about my connection to Pleiku and the 119th - some of whom had been there or knew about the 119th. I encouraged all to visit the site so hopefully we'll see some new "faces"!! Everyone was very, very nice.

It's so good to see so many who finally want to honor all of you who gave so much over in Vietnam. It's about time.........

Love you all,
Gail
