There is only one motel in the Clarksville area, and that is the A-OK Motel, 409-427-2287. This is located one mile West of the intersection of highways 82 and 37 in Clarksville, Texas. This Motel is approximately 27 miles from the farm.

After that, the only choices are in Paris, Texas which is another 30 miles west of the A-OK Motel. There are several motels there to choose from and they are all within about 3 miles of the intersection of highways 82 and 271.

There are also All the usual Motels in Mount Pleasant, but you have to remember that you will have to travel about 22 miles on small one and two lane country roads to get to Bogata, which is on highway 271, then you have to drive 27 miles South to Mount Pleasant.

There is one other saving grace, and it is a Bed and Breakfast in Clarksville, Called the Courthouse Inn, phone 409-427-0801. The B&B is only 24 miles from the farm and it is run by a real nice couple.

Clarksville is a good area for very inexpensive food for breakfast and lunch. A small diner just off of the court house square in Clarksville serves breakfast and lunch. Breakfast, eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, potatoes, and all the coffee that you can drink for less than $3.50. Lunch buffet, choice of meat dish, three vegetable dishes, bread, and Iced tea or coffee for less than $4.50. Teds Main Street Cafe is 3/4 mile beyond the square on Hwy 82, lunch buffet for $5.40. Choice of meat dish, three vegetables, bread, a desert, and a drink. You can also order from the menu. Here you can also get the evening meal, and they do have some good steak and catfish dinner prices.

I hope this information helps you in selecting a place to stay in the local area if you think "roughing it" means staying somewhere that doesn't have room service.
