In Response To: Another Update from Texas.... ()

Dave, I want to thank you for all the fine work you did in preparing the site. I look forward to you , Jim and Roy visiting me around labor day for the Ft. Wolters get together.

Mark, It was nice meeting you and all the " New guys" and the cooked bass was great. I look forward to seeing you all again. Thanks for the CD. and this fine site. I owe ya one.

Doc, if It was you that sent the packages, then I want to say thanks for the package of tattoos and a couple of MRE's. They were great and I owe you!

Seeing Roy D,& Tom Frankenfield again brought back a lot of memories, and a sense of loss when I had to leave Sunday. Tom F, I am especially grateful for your help and Roy's help in setting up camp. Roy had that shade thing together in no time. Also the tomatoes and other veggies were great. You need to go into the produce bidness

Turns out that busy beaver, Tom P. and I both flew with Moberly in 524 on more than one occasion so I put Tom in the ranks of brave crews who survived my stick time. Speaking of Tom P.,I don't think I ever watched a busier man in any camp. It made me tired just watching him. And when he stopped for a break, his stories were side splitters.

Shoefly, I enjoyed meeting you and your son. he is another busy beaver and fine young man. Also,I loved hearing about the siren first hand. It would have been a hoot to fly with you.

There was a double strength Platoon of folks at the camp over the week end and darned if I can remember their names. I talked over coffee with them, swapped stories and yarns and in the process brought home the great stories but lost the names.
That MI type, Jim said I was suffering from "CRAFT" and I think he was right.
Mary Beth, it was great meeting you and Caroline and I look forward to future sightings. I guess the official Mascots of the 119th reunions will be red headed wood minxes. I spotted 3 during the campout. All were lovely. I noticed some had a penchent for water. I never knew they could be tamed by cool water.(must have been the heat).

Well guys, I am still trying to digest all the stuff from the week end and the camp out reunion. I Know I will get emotional as I think of it later. I hate tears but I think the future memories will bring some. I am glad you all survived the madness so long ago, and I salute you all for being Gators and Crocs. Anyone who was there in that unit deserves a special medal. And, as we all know, you had to cut up a regiment with a dull pocket knife to get even a a "V" device in that outfit. But, as I look back I realize that I loved it and the men I served with there. I think I've kept that surpressed for 30 some years, but it's true and this week end brought it to the surface. Thanks again... and salute.
