I agree that reunions are good for the sole, if not for the body. (still getting the kinks out) One important thing is having the sense of belonging and closeness for a change. Even when we were in the Army we didn't seem to belong. Peace-time Army and non-combat soldiers were our undoing. At the reunion we all slept well, for we knew there were brothers all around us who would be there for us no matter what.

As far as the PTSD stuff is concerned, having someone with you that "was there - done that" to help and understand is most important. It can't be explained to others what it felt like, just experienced. When they say "I understand", they mean it, they feel or felt the same. Some, like Dave and I, are the "walking wounded" (we've been patched up) who can reach out and help those who can't walk yet. I believe we have all been "wounded" to some extent. Some with flesh wounds, some with wounds direct to the heart. I still firmly believe that no one gets left behind. Then or now.
