working on getting starband for the woods.

Well folks,
I have come out of the woods long enough to do a couple of things so that I can go back as soon as this Friday. I received a call from Pappasan yesterday at about 7 p.m., he was still on his way home from the reunion. He was unable to visit Chako Canyon due to the forest fires in the area, so he headed for his brother's home for a day or two. He is doing well and he should be back on the net within a few days.

I am working on getting Starband so that I can communicate from the Farm. Should be up in a couple of weeks, depending on the people from Dishnetwork and Starband.

The reunion was small, but it was a good start. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the people who came, I had a lot of fun reminiscing about the past. To me it was a real heart warmer, I have found some of my brothers and sisters again and I was again part of the unit. I got a chance to put names to faces and through the slide show on Saturday night, brought back memories of our youth. Many of the memories came rushing back with the photos of the area and the people that we were. Many good memories, and some bad were encountered, but we made it through the bad and we enjoyed the good.

Bob Kilpatrick, Hosco6, sent a few care packages to us for the reunion. Everyone was wearing the Tatoos that he sent, and everyone enjoyed the MRE's that he sent. Four boxes of MRE's were scarfed up in less than ten minutes, many were eaten on the spot. The data was shared, Mark is making copies of the CD's that were sent for those who are listed in the profiles on this site.

I have volunteered to host another reunion again and the consensus was for two years, which is really a good time. The VHPA has announced its reunion for that year in Dallas which means that the VHCMA will hold its reunion in close proximity. This means that many of our brothers and sisters will be in the area if we choose to hold our unit reunion immediately following or during that time. Maybe more will be able to attend our reunion. It was also suggested that we include our brothers in the 70th Signal and 545th Maintenance. These people were an important part of our unit, and we would have been unable to do what we did without them.

I had a lot of fun with the reunion, and I am looking forward to the next. That is two years away for those of us who need 1 1/2 to 2 years to do their planning (saw it in the posts) now you too have a chance to be there.
