That is just my point Tom. We took a hell of a lot of casualties in the 52nd. Remember for every KIA there are several injured or wounded. The 52nd earned it's Aviation Regiment Status in today's army Aviation with our blood and dedication
It was named Army Aviation Unit of the year for 1967 and from the research I did and Quad A Magazine It showed that during 1967 the unit had more than 2500 kills and about half of them were inflicted defending it's own unit perimeters. I am not glorifying war. I just want you guys to know that over the 8 years it was in action in Vietnam, you served with a hell of an outfit. Walk proud when asked what your unit was. There are Infantry battalions that would not compare with the 52nd. and In my opinion the core of the 52nd was the 119th. It was the unit the original 52nd was buit around.
Salute and ^5
