For the record

I just talked to John W Grow (155th pilot). I know he was the first off the ground that night with his gun ship because I watched it depart 050.
He said his crew was Sp4 John C Mayfield, and Sp4 Francis Tiner. John does not remember if his co-pilot was Fisher or Heath but it was one of them since each flew with him a lot. When I read him the account he was a bit surprised to learn his name was missing. We laughed about it. In any case he will be at the get together 6 sept. so we will sort out more then. I told him the news said they knocked out 3 tubes. he said no, it was 13 tubes. I remember 9 tubes as the initial report. In anycase, I will defer to the shooters on that night. 13 it is.That is a hell of a lot of mortars. In addition was told that a 57 MM recoiless got in a few shots from the knoll southest of Holloway.
Guys, I have been going thru my stuff from that timeframe. I found an order from Mar 67 with some air medals from 17th group and it has 119th folks. I Also found a guard duty roster from July 1967 and some other stuff. The Guard duty roster has both 545th CHFM det. names and 119th AHC names. When I can get it scanned I will put it out. I am sure we can ID some of these folks.
