I know what you mean. The "Official" 1/22 BN History for 1969 is 3 pages, compared to 30 pages for 1970. I also managed to get my hands on a copy of the 1/22 1969 Yearbook, the only year they made one. They took the pictures in late 1968, so anybody who came in country after that isn't in it. It's 80 pages and over half of it is devoted to Base Camp personel. Some of the line companies only have about 50% of the pictures of the "Grunts", so you can figure out who the book was made for.
We have relied primarily on getting the BN S-3 radio logs from the National Archives to get the "real story" on what happened for a particular event.
