I may be incorrect on this, but I think I learned somewhere that ORLLs were generally compiled from unit (company/battery/troop) level "after-action reports" and submitted by battalion/squadron level to higher HQ.

At the risk of appearing to diminish the significance of the loss of Gator 297, this GLARING OMISSION could be just the tip of the iceberg in the loss/limbo condition of our history.

As a micro-example, as I think I have stated, I was "attached out" to HHC 52nd for most of my tour, and never "relieved from attachment" prior to the 119th standdown. I departed from HHC when my time came. Technically, I should have been "returned" to 119th, and further assigned elsewhere, or at least back to HHC, 52nd. Didn't happen...and I don't think we can fault the Remington Raiders- a lot of it was just the immense amount of juggling (beans, bullets, personnel) that went on in the entire sideshow...and I'm just one of the (three- or is it-five- million???) bellybuttons...
