You guys will be interested to hear about a plan that is coming together.
The guys at the VFW Post in my little town, East Hampton CT, started over a year ago trying to get a surplus Huey for display outside the Post. They got word about 3 weeks ago from TACOM that there were no Hueys available, but they could have a Cobra if they wanted it...
The entire Post jumped on the project immediately, old-timers, Korean and Vietnam guys, everybody. Pal of mine, grunt, is running the project for them. With unbelieveable help from folks in (George?) Bay City, Michigan, they already have plans for a 12-foot steel pylon and concrete base, and they plan on mounting the ship as if it's rolling in an a gunrun.
I never liked the damned things myself, but it's sure gonna look good on their lawn.
Gonna be fun to watch, I'll keep you up to date as we proceed.
Bob
