It was not just the Guys in Back shooting.
Several pilots also fired into the air. You could look toward Mang Yang and see it coming. First the 3rd BDE/ 25th between holloway and the pass put a lot of tracers into the air. Then a company sized base closer to us, then Holloway. Finally the ARVNs to the west of Holloway chimed in. Some fool shot an M-79 into the air, I heard it thunk. It went off on the runway. That is when the CO and others went nuts. I had fired about 6 rounds from the .38 and after the M-79 decided to hide out. Several of the CO's Best boys came thru looking for shooters then they went elsewhaere. Probably to Frankenfields Hootch LOL
I'd still like to talk to the asshole with the M-79. That scared the shit out of me.
