This is interesting stuff, Tom.
There were five AHCs that really were involved in the war from stem to stern. All arrived early as Transportation Companies equipped with CH-21s.
All were converted to Assault Helicopter Companies in June 1963 and swapped their CH-21s for UH-1s at that time.
The 8th Trans became the 117th AHC. (Long Binh) In-country 11Dec61 thru March72.
The 57th Trans became the 120th AHC. (Long Binh) In-country 11Dec61 thru October72. (The 8th and 57th came over together on the USS Core.)
The 93rd Trans became the 121st AHC. (Soc Trang) In-country 26Jan62 thru December70.
The 33rd Trans became the 118th AHC. (Bien Hoa) In-country 17Sep62 thru August71.
The 81st Trans became the 119th AHC. (Pleiku) In-country 17Sep62 thru December70.
The 119th company history shows that the 119th stand-down was the end of October 1970. It probably took the 52d Bn another month or two to lose all the records.
