Bob,
As an in-between person here, I have to say I understand where Mom is coming from in this, but I also understand what Mark is saying.
I finally got the courage to watch We Were Soldier's Once the other day. If what you guys went through was even 1/10th of what was depicted in this movie, you have certainly earned the right to say anything you want..... and that IS what this site is for.
If I had gone through that and was faced with what's going on now in Afghanistan & Iraq, I'd probably want a list of "fond expressions" for those folks, too (sorry, Mom). I do not take what you posted personally - it's a fact of life that people "think" and "feel" and "do" in their own way - that's what makes us all special. If we were all the same - geeezzz, how boring would that be??
Marty died for our freedom - and that included being able to express an opinion without fear of being judged. I my mind, that is a tremendous honor to him - and the fact that you guys keep hanging around here is an even bigger honor.
I haven't been in the military, haven't experienced what it means to put my life on the line - and in many cases, you guys had no choice in the matter. I was and still am very upset over how you were treated when you returned home. You paid your dues. You earned the right.
Like Mark, I don't want anyone worrying about what they say here. This place is for YOU - not us!
Gail
PS Apology accepted! :-)
