The Department of Army, and other US government agency, has announced that all service members who served in the Republic of Vietnam from March 1, 1961 through March 28, 1973 are entitled to the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Because the Cross of Gallantry does not appear on every US Vietnam veteran's DD-214 (Discharge), Vietnam veterans may receive government acknowledgement of this medal by requesting a DD-215 (updated Discharge) from the National Records Center in St. Louis, MO by submitting an SF-180. When submitting your request it is suggested that a photocopy of you original DD-214 be enclosed with the SF-180.
