When I got in-country I was assigned to the 545th Transportation Company. We were the main support for what was then the 119th Avn.Company.(AML) About May of 1968 we became the 119th Assault Helicopter Company. For what reason I don't know. In Jan. 1969 all the support groups were absorded into the 119th as one. During 1968 the flight platoons were always being sent RON (remain over night)some where. June and July was spent at Dak To rotating weekly or so. At the end of July we were sent to Ninh Hoa which right on the coast north of Nha Trang. We spent a week there landing in thirty ship landing zones and getting sun burnt. The duty at FOB II was always on a daily mission. The compound was very small and one mortar attack would get all ten ships we needed for those missions. The Crocs had to land at Kontum and were ferryed back and forth by our ships. Oct.and Nov.again found us back at Dak To but we were pulling two week rotations then. The good thing was no guard duty. The bad thing was Dak To at night is one scarey place. Dec.68 and Jan.69 the first flight platoon ended up at Lane Army Airfield outside Qui Nhon supporting the ROKs. No beaches but great down town and lots of place to trade for stuff we needed.

By the time we got out of the Plei-Trap the 1st Brigade of the 4th Infantry was moving to An Khe. The first flight started pulling that RON at the end of April 1969. I moved on to the Crocs in May and was one of the last to leave Holloway in July 1969. I departed the company in Sept 69. I think they made one move back to Holloway and another back to AN Khe before stand down. I think we were the 119th Assault Helicopter Company(AML) buy the time I left.
