It's interesting how you never see a general or very many Field Grade officers who don't have a chest full of medals. I never once had a general or field grade flying with me. Life has never been fair; will never be fair; and was never intended to be fair in the first place. Medals are nice, but I'll take my memories and knowledge any day. No medal can replace the conversations and appreciation I have in talking to Touch or any of you guys. What the guys in my platoon, the Crocs, is more important to me than any medals
could ever be, and that's as a pilot and as their platoon leader, both officers and enlisted. I'll stack it up against anybody. Next comes the same thing from the Gators. I have no problem looking anyone in the eye and never had to back up to the pay table. Next came the ground pounders we served. The value of anything is only in people. Everything alse is just things and basically worthless. You can replace all the stuff, but not
the people.
