Veterans Day 2002

Filght,

I'll call this my After Action Report.

Living in the Washington DC Metro area afords me the ability to visit "THE WALL" anytime but this year was special. Not the most memorable, that was my first visit, but being given the opportunity to read names of our fallen brothers is something I will remember till eternity. Spending quality time with Bob, Shakey, and Tom L in the VHFCN Hospitality room was time to unwind and share the moment.

I will say that I was nervous about the name reading and I studied my lists for days. I even had my wife take them to school and get clarification on a few from the language dept. This had to be done perfectly, and it was. My family requested permission to be there with me. This made it a little tougher since this included my wife, daughter, son in-law, son, daughter in-law, and three grandsons ages 13,7,& 6. As I read the names I could look out to the people and I made eye contact with my wife, she was crying. That was the last thing I needed. I really had to suck it up just to finish. In the end all went well and this is high on my list of special days.
Another day that is high on my list is being at "THE WALL" with Mark for Rolling Thunder.

I am Blessed.

PS: Mark I have photos to send for page but I lost your email address when the puter crashed. I do know what the word Backup means and plan to practice it from now on.
