Tom, Re; the melted down Helicopters.
I am having pilot wings cast from melted down huey and cobra tailbooms and other parts. The 2024 Aluminium alloy has such a high copper content that it is really white bronze. The museum plans to sell the wings to raise money. We will have some crewman wings made when I can find an artist who can carve all the fancy eagle stuff into the pattern for the shield.
Anyway I am also having some memorials made also. The protptype will be for Gator 297 and will look like the memorial logo above right. The letters will be raised . The wings will be 18 inches long and nearly a half inch thick. The names of the crew will be engraved on the shield and we plan to present it to Mark at the 119th AHC/ VHPA reunion in Orlando Fla in July. (Please come join us).
I am supposed to pick up the wings soon and the memorial after the first of the year. I will post pictures of them here as soon as I get the new ones. The intial prototype was a bit out of conformity and we had to re-do the pattern.
