Are there any deer around the deer stand or did you get to finish the book? We have lots of deer here in the big city but most of them are bagged by Chevys, Toyotas, Hondas, and Dodge. We do have a hunting season here in Montgomery County but it is limited to Bow and Shotgun. Things are just too populated for rifles. My property backs up to park land and I can usually see several deer each day within 150 - 200 feet of my deck.

I like to watch em not eat em. Hunting is OK with me as long as you eat what you shoot (pesky neighbors encluded).
