I was an E-4 with about 2 months left to do in country and 3 more back in the states when I was DRROS shuffled to the 189th. The CO there wanted to give E-5 and recommend me for a Distinguished Service Cross. I very politely told him I am a 2 and out kind of guy and it would be better for the unit if they gave it to someone who was going to be around for a while. In the meantime I just wanted to do my job and go home in one piece.
