Got the same pep talk re: re-uping and the big cash bonus depending on how many years you took. Finally got him to understand that I was a 2 and out kind of guy. The talk then turned to finishing my last 4 months in the Army back in Nam any where I wanted as long as it included being a CE. Fat chance, I was tired of being shot at, tired of Death, and tired of seeing the carnage. Also took into account that I had not received a Purple Heart and that was a good thing. Also considered that after a year of flying that I had long since passed the zero crossing and if I continued that in Nam something bad was sure to happen.

To make a long story short I went home for my 30 day leave extended it by 10 days (AWOL) got married and went to Sharps Army Depot for my last 3 months. The wife finished her last semister in college and then we started a family when I was discharged. Being discharged with a critical MOS still was not a comfortable feeling. Any way thats the long and short of it.

PS: Had to find a new circle of friends since the ones I had before Nam just did not have clue. Life is just too short to waste on ignorance.
