The Plain Black Wall

Flight,

My daughter gave me this about 10 years ago. I keep it in a frame on my desk not as a reminder of Vietnam but as a reminder that she understands how I feel. She will most likley never know many of the things we experienced (my fault) but does have compasion for what it cost in lives and minds.

“THE PLAIN BLACK WALL”

Their names remain forever,
on this plain black wall.
It proves their great devotion,
when their Nation called.

America may not care.
Politicians pass and still can’t see.
We , the vets who come here,
know they died for you and me.

To those who do not care,
nor wish to understand,
they are the men who died,
in far off Viet Nam.

Those who see their names ,
but never raised their hand,
leave with a grim reminder,
of the price of this great land.

Some were left behind,
And can’t be here today.
Please bring them home.
They are POW-MIA’S
