George, The crew of Gator 517 was Mr. Becker call sign "The Animal" on a guess maybe Mr. Murray as peter pilot. They flew together a lot just before Mr. Murray became an A/C. The back seat guys were Heintz and Hahn.

The gunner who was hit that day was Jack Ryan. He got hit in the back of the leg. The round came thru the hell hole and the transmission wall and caught him in the calf. He was short and this got him on light duty until he left. The reason I remember is he was in my hootch and he gave me his .45 when he left. I think Larry Hayes was the crew chief. I don't know who the pilots were.

We were pulling a lot of RON at Dak To during this time. The rainy season was coming and we were getting extra supplies into the firebases plus the fact we started a major operation the following month with the 101st. Post Tet in the Tri-border was pretty busy. From Febuary to June we lost three slicks and one gunship to enemy fire. I were in the middle of Operation MacAuthor and Operation Mathews.
