I emailed Jose regarding an incident 15 Jan '69. A Cobra was shot down from C/7/17 Cav and they had some Blues go in to the crash site. They became surrounded and 3/D/1-35 was alerted to reinforce them and were inserted at 1820 hours the LZ was Hot. At 2045 hours the remainder of D 1/35 was inserted. I think 4 men broke their ankles when jumping from the choppers. They linked up with the Blues by whistling "Dixie"to help them locate their position. D 1/35 lost their medic and had 10 wounded. One of the Blues (Pfc Garfield Langhorn) was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions that day.
