Tom the proof sets for the aviator wings were bought sight unseen before the proofs were cast. I still have about 20 sets from the first production run. The first set went to an old 119th pilot Allen Lambert (66-67) for his help to the museum. Another set was bought by Jim Erwin (119th in 64-65) and a third by me. So we folks of the 119th got 30% of the proofs. The crewmember wings will be cast later this month or early Feb if all goes well, and the 10 proofs will be reserved for you guys if I can swing it. I have an order from you for a set and the number one set will be offered to Ron Carey. BTW the proofs are to prove the casting and are not shiny like a proof coin. as a matter of fact they may have tiny defects that will not be in the production run but they are marked " Artist Proof" and signed and dated. they may never have any value to anyone but us,but I really like the damned things and am proud to have played a part in the design and manufacture of them.
