Tom,

The turkey farm was where the X-mas tree was located. That area was outside the perimeter until April of 1968. When I first got to Holloway our bunkers were directly behind our hangar which were located on the main flight line across from the fire station. They bordered the road which ran to the new company area. That was considered no man's land. Once the perimeter included the X-Mas tree we started pulling guard duty on three times the bunker we had been on during Tet. Each flight platoon was given a bunker and we pulled guard about every third or fourth night. When I first went into the flight platoon there was only one bunker that all the flight platoons shared duty on. You would get guard maybe once during your tour. Most of the guys would fly after a night of guard. Some didn't. I was without a ship during June and July of 68 and I filled in on several ships during that time. I actually got to fly with all three platoons during that time and loved every minute of it.
