Tom, The reason we worked you guys so hard to get ships flyable is, we had to have 13 and 5 EVERY day. If I failed to have 13 slicks and 5 guns availaible for combat operations, The 545th TC det. commander and I, or sometimes I alone (I was acting commander for 6 weeks during that tour), got to explain it to the 119th commander (along with the service platoon maint. officer). The commander of the 119th then got a personal invitation to go explain it to the Batallion commander. Short of "they were blown all to hell last night sir", none of those commanders were known to accept excuses.
