Dear Lorraine,

Hi Babe, how are you? I’m kind of down today after reading your letter. I would have given my right arm to be able to call you on your birthday but we just don’t have phones over here. If and when you can go to a place that has phones you have to call collect and that would be expensive. I feel bad enough about your birthday as it is.

The workload has been pretty heavy. We had an inspection today by some General. He was checking the Hanger and all of the Aircraft that were in for maintenance. It must have gone well since no one chewed us out.

Let me now how school is going and tell you roommates hello for me. When I get home I’ll take all of you out to dinner. I have a favor to ask and I need you to let me know you will do it. The next weekend you go home please stop by and see my mother. She has been asking about you. I know she thinks the world of you and worries about you so stop by and see her for me.

Not much else to talk about now, everything here is the same a usual. Please don’t let this get you down everything will be all right. A year is a long time but I know we will be better for it when its over.

I LOVE YOU VERRY MUCH!
Tom
