Dear Lorraine,

Hi Honey! I’m a little down today, I feel bad about the letter I wrote you yesterday. I wasn’t giving you a hard time I just feel bad about not being able to talk to you and there is nothing I can do about it. Please forgive me.

I found out today that I will be flying by the end of next week. One of the Officers came to the Hanger today and asked if any one wanted to crew. I was the only one who jumped at the request. We talked about it for a few minutes and he told me I would be reassigned to the second flight platoon. The platoon leader is Kenny Lee, I have talked to him before and he seems too be real nice. I’m supposed to talk to him sometime later today. I know I don’t want to be in the Hanger for my whole tour and I really want to fly and have my own ship.

I got a letter from my parents today. My dad got the first pictures developed and said they came out very good. You can see them when you stop by. Mom doesn’t sound so good in her letters and Dad says she is always watching the news to see what is going on over here. I know she is worried and there is nothing I can do about it. That makes it difficult for me since I have to concentrate on being here and doing my best.

I have to stop now but I’ll write again tomorrow. We are on stand by tonight for repairs and I have to get back to the Hanger. There a still a few ships out flying and they need a work team available for repairs.

Love Tom
