Reunion 2003

Yes, it's true. I am back from a long hiatus and pretty tough ordeal with my Father's unexpected death. He was 80 and in good health but got himself caught driving in icy conditions and had a
car accident. It was a shock to all of us, but I think dealing with all the estate crap has been worse to deal with. It's finally over and now it's time to get on with life. I have received a few e-mails from Tom P., which I dearly appreciate..

The reunion being at Dad's farm is still a go, and I know he would want it that way. He was really looking forward to it and being able to meet all of you.

He and I had set the dates as August 2 through 16,
with the primary weekend for everyone to be there the 7th through the 10th.

We'll be camping at the actually farm, where the buildings are, with plenty of trees surrounding them. It is 3.5 miles from my hometown of LaMoure, North Dakota. LaMoure is located in the southeast corner of the state about 80 miles from Wahpeton, 110 miles from Fargo, 55 miles from Valley City, 65 miles from Jamestown and 65 miles from Aberdeen, SD. The primary Interstates are I94, from the east or west, and I29 from the north
or south. The primary secondary highways are US hwy 281 and ND hwy 1 north and south, and ND hwy 13 east and west. ND hwy 13 goes through LaMoure.

From LaMoure, you go west 1 mile on ND hwy 13 and turn south onto a gravel road (there's a sign there for the LaMoure Country Club). You take that gravel road for 2 miles (past the Country Club, around an S curve, up a hill and then another 1/2 mile). Turn right (you'll be looking at the house) and a little less than 1/2 mile and you're there. You are welcome to camp anywhere in the trees or the yard, whichever you prefer.

There is a 30-35 room motel in LaMoure (31/2 miles
from the farm) for those less avid outdoor types. There's a RV facility on the west side of town by the river with all the necessary hookups (Willie),
and the river has some great Northern Pike fishing
right there by the dam.

There are 3 or 4 restaurants in town, a grocery store and 2 gas/convenience stores.

Lake LaMoure is about a 15 minute drive from the farm and has some excellent bass and walleye fishing, but you will want a boat. Dad has a small fishing row boat, but I don't know if it leaks or not. I will have it checked out by then.

There's a very nice 9 hole golf course about 20 minutes from the farm. It's not the LaMoure Country Club, which is a 9 hole golf course, but it has the old sand greens.

If there's any hunters in the group, the deer, pheasant, duck and goose hunting is great. If you
are interested, we can talk about coming back in late Oct or Nov and doing some hunting. I would love to have you.

The population of LaMoure is about 950. It's a very old town and some the old timers might look at you a little funny but once you tell them you're their to see me they'll be fine. If anyone
has difficulty getting to the farm (there will be signs) just ask anyone how to get to Bill Saufley's farm.

Tom F. - I promise no bush hogs.

I'll have running water, electricity and porta potties at the farm. I don't know if we'll still have Dad's horse or not, but if anyone is interested in riding horses, I can probably make arrangements to have some available, at no cost.

The ultralight will not be available. I already sold it. It was kind of a special thing between Dad and I, and I didn't want to keep it anymore.

Ask any questions or let me know of anything you may like to do or need available and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you. I look forward to seeing you all there, and it sure feels good to
be back on the site again. Happy New Year to all of you.
