Dear Lorraine,

Hi! Honey, How are You? By the time this gets to you Valentines Day will have already past and I am sorry. You know how I feel about you, I promise to make it up to you when I get home. This place does things to you head and sometimes I loose track of the important things in life. I’m not going to ask you to forgive me, just be there for me when I get home so I can make it up to you.

Today’s missions were mostly routine, several of the other guys are on details back at Holloway working on the perimeter stringing barbed wire and placing Clay Moor mines out. It makes me wonder if they are expecting trouble or just doing it to keep them busy. In the afternoon we went on a RECON flight out by the Cambodian border. We had a Special Forces Major on the flight with us. We were looking for active trails in the jungle and possible LZ’s for future CA’s. We did shoot up an old hooch on the ground just for practice. After that we went back to Kontum and waited for a while and then got released to go back to Holloway. I have no idea what we will be doing tomorrow. Things have been to quiet for to long and some of the guys are getting edgy.

I got some good news today, I have been promoted to Specialist 4th class. That means $65.00 more each month and you need to change my mail address to SP. 4. I have been sending money orders home to my Dad each month and he is putting it in my savings account. So by the time I get out of the Army next February we should have enough to get started on.

That’s about all for now. Again I am very sorry about missing Valentines Day. I Love You and Miss You very much.
