Tom,

Most of the crews have something which has stayed with us since our tours. Each name on the "Wall" has a "what if" connected to it. To try and understand all the things that happened would drive us insane. I can say that the one thing which has helped me is that for every "what ifs" that turned out bad, there were ten "what ifs" that ended alright. The LRRPs we got out when things were bad. The grunts we pulled out of the Plei-Trap. Any time we tried to help was better then doing nothing. I could never explain the feelings I had that made me want to do the things we did and I think to try and explain it to someone which was never there is even harder. A soldier's way of thinking is not something which most people understand. The things we did were not for country, flag or apple pie. We did them for each other.
