Tom, I said to my Mom three or four years ago (right after she told me I must be mistaken about being in the Army; she knew I had "flown" helicopters, so I must have been in the Air Force) that I was very comfortable about my Vietnam service.
I told her that when I start to get wound up about the ugly stuff, I think about all the guys walking around today ONLY because I was there, doing what I did, on the day they needed me.
Could someone else have gotten it done? Sure. But it just happened that I did, and I am damned proud to have gotten away with it. Case closed.
Sort of helps me to bury them "negative vibes" that creep up on all of us once in a while.
