Not quite as bad here, Tom- we prolly got about 18"... but the shoveling has REALLY taken its toll. Oh... my achin' back !

I've prolly spent 24 hours shoveling "my" snow in the past six days..and I've helped four neighbors unstick their cars, too.

The rough part is that as soon as I come in for a pit stop, the plow puts so much of it right back into the driveway apron.

Today, I thought I'd get smart and place my rolling dumpster at the corner of one of the piles, which was over five feet high. I dug a little nook to fit it into, and placed it right where I thought the plow wouldn't hit the pile.
Wrong. I returned from my pit stop, and found the dumpster moved, and a wall of snow over three feet high crossing the driveway apron. A moment later, the snowplow came back up the street. I stepped in fron of it, and thankfully, it stopped. I told the driver that I thought he ought to have a little more consideration for the fact that he was doing a great job clearing the driving lanes, but REALLY SCREWING ALL OF US OVER WITH WHAT HE WAS PUSHING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY ENTRANCES. Not at all apologetic, this cretin, earning at least $40 per hour, told me that if I was not happy with how he did his job, I should call VDOT.

In all honesty, my part of the conversation was much more heated and colorful than I'll go into here. The same truck and driver passed my drive at least another half dozen times after that, but he put no more snow in my driveway. And now, my longbed pickup is there, "parallel" parked. Now, the truck is snugly between two six-foot heaps of the stuff. If it's not found in the morning as I left it, the next step is to find an M-60...

Grrrrrumpy
